Paintless Dent Repair or Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is a restorative process used to quickly remove minor dents from the body of a vehicle. Technicians perform PDR techniques by applying pressure from the back side of the dent to encourage it back to its pre-damaged state.
WHAT DENTS QUALIFY FOR PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR?
PDR is best suited for low force impacts and is a reliable repair process for most minor dings. For example, light, moderate, as well as heavy hail damage, impacts from stray balls or pucks in the driveway, and other accidental door dings, can usually be remedied through PDR. Repairs can be made on all panels, including the roof, trunk and hood of your vehicle.
WHAT ARE THE LIMITS OF PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR?
A dent that has seriously chipped or cracked your vehicle's paint, is most likely not a good candidate for PDR. Dents that present with deeper damage or damage that is noticeable from a distance, could also be too severe for our process. A good point of reference is your fist, if the dent is larger than that or appears to be a half-inch deep into a door or panel, PDR may not be the right option for you.
CAN IT DAMAGE MY CAR FURTHER?
No. The caveat, however, is making sure the dent or ding is not outside the scope of what PDR can accomplish. Assuming the dent qualifies and the process is done correctly, it will be hard to tell (if not impossible) where the dent was to begin with.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Designed for smaller, less intrusive impacts, Paintless Dent Repair can be a quick and efficient solution compared to traditional repairs or replacements. Traditional repairs typically require ordering of factory parts, paint, and involve an overnight stay or longer in the shop. Most of the time, we can take care of your dents while you wait, and depending on the location and size of the dents, it can be approximately 30 minutes to an hour to have a dent eliminated.
WILL MY INSURANCE COVER PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR?
Indeed. All around the Nation, it is more often the preferred choice to remedy the damage, if the hail has not caused harm to the finish of your vehicle. It can be more cost effective for insurance companies, as it saves money on paint, supplies, and time for clients in rental vehicles. Once an estimate is prepared, and PDR is a recommended option, most insurance providers will cover this service, which is increasing in popularity.
HOW DOES PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR WORK?
The most common PDR techniques utilize metal rods and body picks to push out dents from the underside of the body panel. Technicians apply pressure from the back side of the dent to encourage it back to it's pre-damaged state. Fine tuning the repair often involves tapping down the affected area to remove the high spots.
